ST. JOSEPH'S middle school expectations
Middle School students will move to many classrooms throughout the day. The following expectations will be followed in each of the classrooms.
Be Prepared
Students need to have all materials with them for each of their classes. This includes assignment notebooks and pencils.
Homework/Late Work
Homework is an essential component for student success. Homework not only helps to reinforce skills learned in class, but also aids in the development of organizational skills, time-management techniques, and individual responsibility.
The ultimate responsibility for completing homework lies with each student. Homework not submitted on the due date will be considered late and the following consequences will apply:
* 1 day late - one letter grade less than the grade earned on the assignment.
* 2 days late - no credit earned for the assignment.
* All late work must have a "Late Work Slip" attached when submitted. These slips are in each of the middle school classrooms and are to be completed by the student.
* Assignments that have been submitted late will be noted on the assignment in Cornerstone.
Cell Phones
Cell phones that are visible or ring during class will be confiscated and sent to the principal's office.
* 1st Offense: Students need to visit with the principal at the end of the day to have the phone returned.
* 2nd Offense: Parents will need to see the principal to have the phone returned.
* 3rd Offense: The phone will be confiscated for the remainder of the school year.
" Cell phones are not allowed during the school day. Cell phones are to be turned off and stowed in backpacks."

Hall Passes
Students need a hall pass before going to another classroom. Hall passes need to be signed by a teacher.
"Individuals who are in hallways or other unsupervised areas during class time are required to have a hall pass. Hall passes indicating the student's departure/returning time and destination must be signed by a teacher."
